I walk nicely on a lead
Age: 6 years approxSex: FemaleBreed: Saluki xAdoption fee: £200.00
Hazel came to the centre via an inspector after being found abandoned in appalling condition and living in squalor, Hazel was emaciated and her coat was so matted and dull. Hazel was so very nervous when she first arrived at the centre due to the neglect she had suffered. Slowly but surely Hazel has grown in confidence and learnt to trust the staff, she is now realising that life can be fun and full of love. Once you have built up a bond with Hazel she really is the sweetest most affectionate girl you could wish for, she still gets scared by new situations and sudden noises so adopters will need to be mindful of this.
Hazel has some issues about going through doorways which we are working on and she is much better but this confidence building will need to be continued in her new home. Sometimes we do need to carry Hazel through the doors but this is becoming less and less frequent.
Hazel's character has come along since she first arrived at the centre that we now feel she is ready to start a new chapter in her life, adopters will need to be patient with Hazel and they will be rewarded with a fantastic and loyal best friend. Hazel is on pain relief as she seemed to be in some discomfort whilst walking, although xrays were clear she is better on the pain relief. She could maybe come off the medication when she has built up muscle on her back legs but adopters will need to be aware she may need the medication for life.
Hazel is sociable with most other dogs and can live with a compatible confident dog after a successful introduction at the centre. Hazel will need an adult only home.
PLEASE NOTE, DUE TO THE COVID RESTRICTIONS WE ARE ONLY ABLE RE HOME TO ADOPTERS WHO LIVE IN THE YORK AND SURROUNDING AREA.
