Adopt an animal

Ellie

Age: 18 months approxSex: FemaleBreed: Lurcher

Found their forever home!

Ellie is a sweet but very nervous and anxious dog who came to the RSPCA via the local dog warden. Ellie was in absolutely horrendous condition when she first arrived here at the centre, it was very clear that she had been totally neglected and her character makes us believe she was also abused.

Ellie has gained weight and her injuries have healed, but she has sadly been left with the psychological scars that will need lots of patience and understanding to help her overcome. Ellie will probably carry these scars for a long time, so it is now our job to find her adopters who will help mend those scars.

Ellie is very fearful around new people, she has much improved, but she still has a long way to go. Ellie tries her hardest to say hello but at the moment struggles with this. Ellie looks to her people to keep her safe from people she does not know trying to stroke her. She will need adopters who will not want to take her to busy places, as she will find those situations extremely stressful and scary, nice and quiet is the best places for her.

Ellie absolutely adores being around other dogs, she gains so much confidence when she is with them, she actually prefers other dogs to humans at the moment. Her whole character changes and she becomes the dog she should be, playful, happy and carefree. For this reason we would prefer her to go with an existing, confident dog who will not only show her the ropes but let her snuggle up with.

Ellie will need patient adopters who will help her settle in to a home environment and learn how to be part of a loving family who will cherish her and help her wash away her terrible past. She will need adult only home and her adopters will meet with our behaviourist before adoption to help her have the best chance of settling in.
