Please note that the York Animal Home is closed all day Monday as well as the first Thursday of every month for staff training.
Our reception area is only fully manned during our opening hours, as our staff are attending to animal welfare the rest of the time. If you telephone us please be patient. Our reception staff may be busy at the front desk (usually with adoptions). They will answer your call if they are free but if not, your call will be diverted to the answerphone. The reception staff will call you back as soon as they can.
Worried about an animal that is not yours? - If you are concerned about the welfare of an animal or need to report cruelty, please contact the national help line on 0300 1234 999. Please do not use the contact form on this page or ring the York Animal Home, for animal welfare concerns, as we will not be able to help you.
Animal Welfare Advice - You can use a virtual assistant to find your nearest vets, council, police or fire & rescue as well as answer most animal welfare questions.
For more advice on caring for pets please also read the 'All about animals' page on the National RSPCA website - click here
Veterinary Care - We do not have a resident vet and therefore cannot assist with any emergency treatment your pet may need. You need to contact your own vet. Please see our clinic page for the qualifying criteria for our welfare clinic.
We do try to get it right first time but if we fail we do need to know about it, so we can learn from it. How you can contact us is on the link here.

From donations to volunteering, we need help to care for the animals that are brought to us, for so many different reasons.
