About Merlin

Merlin is a lovely lad who originally came to the centre via an inspector after his needs were not getting met, he was adopted out but unfortunately through no fault of his own it did not work out and Merlin finds himself looking for another new home.

Sadly Merlin is pretty much blind and was born this way, he may be able to see slightly but it will be very blurry. As he gets older there is a high possibility that Merlin will go completely blind. He does not let this affect him so please do not let this put you off adopting him. Visually impaired dogs cope remarkably well when adapting to a new home, consistency and verbal markers are a necessity when adopting a dog who is visually impaired. They learn quick to familiarise themselves with their surroundings and family. It is often helpful if they have another dog with them as well.

Merlin is a lovely, kind and gentle dog who loves to be with his people getting lots of attention. Unfortunately Merlin missed out on a lot of important socialisation when he was a young puppy so he has a little catching up to do. He is young, keen and ready to learn and experience new things. He will need adopters who are at home most of the time while he settles in to family life.

Merlin gets on well with most other dogs but being a young exuberant adolescent lad he can become quite excitable and boisterous so if he was to live with another dog, they would need to meet his activity levels. They would need a successful introduction at the centre so we can make sure he will not be too much for them. He is suitable to live with children aged 13 years and over.
