The ones who keep us moving

Our Volunteer Van Drivers are indispensible. We receive a large volume of donations at the Animal Home, which then need to go to the shops as soon as possible.

We are looking for hardworkers who love driving to be the steady presence taking these donations to our four shops. It's not the most glamourous of roles, but it is incredibly important. If you think it might be for you, please read the role profile at the bottom of the page, check out the Frequently Asked Questions, and don't hesitate to contact our Branch Retail Manager with any additional queries you might have.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn't answered below, please contact our Branch Retail Manager, Kimberley, by email HERE.

Do I need my own vehicle?

No - we have an amazing ??? van ready for you to drive. This is a recent investment for us, and we are always excited to see it driving around with our logo and charity name proudly displayed. Everyone will know what charity you are volunteering for!

What area would I be covering?

You would be driving from our main hub, the Animal Home at Landing Lane (YO26 4RH) to any of our four charity shops (Malton, Selby, central York, or Acomb). Our Animal Home covers from Ripon to Malton in the north, down to Selby in the south. Any collections may be within this area, but normally it will be moving stock to our shops.

How much time do I need to give?

We operate a volunteer led scheme at our shops, which means your committment is what you can give us! The Animal Home hours are from 10am until 4pm, and driving time should be factored in to your volunteering. Otherwise we are grateful for any time you may be able to spare.

What skills do I need?

We hope you're a good driver! Some experience driving vans of a similar size to ours would be beneficial, and some understanding of handling donations or a willingness to learn and can-do attitude are a must!
