The magic behind the scenes
Our volunteer donation assistants see it all and do it all! If you have a passion for fashion, or want to learn more about pricing our media, bric, and jewellery, then this role is for you. Every day will be different, because no two donations are the same! You could be discovering a potential treasure trove for the charity, or simply getting clothes ready to go onto the shop floor. Without the behind the scenes help, the shops simply wouldn't run.
As with our volunteer retail assistants full training is given. This is ideal if you're interested in a future career in retail, or just something that will challenge you each day.

- You will be directly helping to support the York Animal Home
- You will gain experience in a fast paced retail environment
- You will develop skills such as teamwork, communication and problem solving
- Full training is provided, which will boost your CV, and a reference can be provided if you volunteer with us for six months
- Most importantly: fun! We want you to enjoy your volunteering with us and being part of a friendly, welcoming team
How much time do I need to give?
We operate a volunteer led scheme at our shops, which means your committment is what you can give us! It can be anything from popping in for an hour or two to help sort a large donation, to a four hour shift in the sorting room, or even all day. Nothing is too small, and everything helps. Your time is precious to us, and greatfully received.
